lakeIan Harvey – Director

Ian studied Social Anthropology at SOAS, University of London.  He later qualified as a Social Worker and worked in the fields of child protection, leaving care as well as with unaccompanied asylum seeking children.  He managed Manchester’s social work team assessing and supporting unaccompanied asylum seeking children and young people before moving permanently to D.R.Congo in 2009 to set up Kimbilio. He returned to the UK in 2013 and remains actively involved in the oversight and development of Kimbilio.

Mark is senior lecturer in Spanish at the University of Chester.  He was involved in the initial planning and establishment of Kimbilio, he has visited Kimbilio and was present at the official opening of Centre Kimbilio in 2009, he returned to Lubumbashi again in 2012 and was involved in the Kimbilio organisational structure consultation process alongside Ruth Ogier (small scale community management consultant and former CCT Trustee). Mark is the treasurer of the Congo Children Trust. Mark is based in Chester where he is a member of Wesley Methodist Church, he is a keen walker and gardener.

Ruth Edson – Trustee

Ruth has been a Congo Children Trust Trustee since Kimbilio began in 2007.  She is passionate about Kimbilio and is constantly enthused by hearing stories of how Kimbilio is supporting and making a difference to children’s lives.  Ruth lives in Manchester and is the Community Engagement Manager at Manchester Art Gallery, helping people enjoy and participate in the arts, predominately working with marginalised groups.
