History of the trust

ianwithIn 2006, whilst working in Kinshasa, the capital of D.R.Congo during the first democratic elections, Ian Harvey observed that the numbers of street children in the country had increased considerable since he had worked in the country in the 1990’s.  Ian met a number of Congolese who were also concerned by this increasing phenomena.  Ian returned to the UK feeling inspired to respond to this need.  He maintained contact with his Congolese contacts and started a period of planning and fund raising.  The Congo Children Trust was set up in 2007 with the purpose of raising the funds needed to enable the setting up and on-going running of Kimbilio in Lubumbashi.  Ian was supported by the Church Mission Society (CMS) when he returned permanently to Lubumbashi in 2009.  CMS continue to support the Kimbilio Co-ordinator as a local mission partner.
